I accidentally started a Strixhaven (STX) Premier Draft, thinking it was a Secrets of Strixhaven one, and I realized it when the rare in the first pack was Sedgemoor Witch . I had already thought it was strange that the draft queue was taking much longer than usual to fill… My first reaction was, “Damn, I’ve thrown away 1500 gems,” thinking that the experience I had built up in the previous 4 SOS drafts would be useless. But I kept going, trusting that Draftsmith would help me. What else was I going to do!?
Curiously, the first packs I saw pulled me back toward black, and the deck ended up being Orzhov again, just like in 2 of the previous 3 drafts I had played. I suppose not knowing the STX archetypes had something to do with it, pushing me toward colors I felt more comfortable with, because at p1p4 (Pack 1 Pick 4) I picked a Lash of Malice over a Shock .
Be that as it may, maybe because there weren’t many people playing this draft anymore, since every time I had to start a match I had to wait a good 2 or 3 minutes, or maybe because the opponents were newer than I was, or maybe they had also picked the wrong set and didn’t have a Companion helping them choose… whatever the reason, after my first loss when I was 2-1, I kept chaining wins together all the way to a final 7-1. The 6th match was especially exciting and went 20 turns! But in the end, with both of us top-decking for a while, the scry from Silverquill Campus together with Killian, Ink Duelist , Access Tunnel , and a Poet's Quill that I drew on the last turn and that gave me the extra point of damage I needed, with my opponent at 3 life and me at 4, got me across the finish line.
On top of that, I played the final match against an opponent ranked Mythic #1753, and I won that one too. I was really happy and had a great time!

In the end, I got back the gems the draft cost and still came out 700 ahead, plus 6 STX packs!
